The current Jeep Compass has been under us for four years now, so we can expect a facelift in the meantime. The refined Compass has already surfaced in China.
About four years ago, Jeep in Brazil drew the curtain on the current Compass. It had to appeal to various markets worldwide, because of its recognizable appearance as a Jeep and at the same time quite modest basis. About six months later, in March 2017, the model made the crossing to our continent. With success, because it became the most sold Jeep in our country. Last year was the absolute top year with 960 units sold, this year sales are lagging behind considerably. Only 137 copies found a Dutch owner in 2020. High time for an impulse and it looks like it is coming.
In China pictures have surfaced of the facelifted Compass. It immediately becomes clear that Jeep is not rigorously changing course. Most striking are the changes at the front. The headlights are somewhat flatter in shape, have a new layout and probably standard (or at least more often than now) LED technology. The front bumper will also be overhauled. From now on you will find an air intake that runs across the entire width and is placed higher, under the familiar grille. In the grille itself, Jeep now seems to place slightly more prominent frosting on the honeycomb structure. At the back much remains the same, although the rear lights seem a bit darker than we are used to. For the time being, the interior only seems to be about details, such as a slightly revised infotainment screen and a renewed digital display in the instruments.
There has not yet been a sign of life from the facelifted Compass on our continent, so we may have to be patient before the renewed Compass shows its face here too. Then there is still the chance that this is an adjustment purely for China, although it would be logical given the age of the Compass that it would also get a refresher here. We wait it out.
