Porsche is working behind the scenes on a facelift for the 992-generation Porsche 911. Previously, our spy photographer had the refreshed 911 Turbo in front of his lens, now the coupĂ© and convertible can also be seen as Carrera. The changes don’t seem earth-shattering.

“Conservative” is a word that fits the 911 perfectly. This applies not only to the changes between the generations, but also to the facelifts. Only the 996 is actually an exception for both cases. For the refurbishment of the 992, Porsche seems to be using the scalpel only to a limited extent, although the changes to the ‘regular’ variants are apparently larger than with the Turbo. As with the Turbo, the nose gets larger air intakes with horizontal and vertical bars. The daytime running lights will move from the top of the air intakes to the sides, although it is not yet known what they will look like. The bulges that are there now hide that. Presumably they will be vertically next to it.

Where the prototype of the facelifted Turbo at the rear hardly differed from the current model, the Carrera has a completely new rear bumper. The license plate is above two centrally placed exhausts that are still slightly apart. The rear bumper is still partly wrapped, but the outlets on both sides and the diffuser also seem to be designed differently than before. With the pre-facelift, the license plate is also higher if you opt for the SportDesign package. Whether the spotted 911s are also equipped with this, or whether this is the standard trim, will have to become apparent at the unveiling. In any case, all spotted prototypes have the same rear bumper.

More interesting than the looks is what Porsche has in store for the powertrains. It could well be that the 911 will come on the market for the first time as a hybrid, there are also rumors about a variant with atmospheric power source under the GT3. However, that is all unconfirmed by Porsche. In any case, expect a whole range of 911 variants. More than ever, because an off-road version of the Elfer is also planned.
