Virtually uncamouflaged
We already have a whole series of spy photos of the facelifted Porsche Cayenne, but it is the first time that our spy photographer has the Cayenne GTS Coupé in front of the lens. As a bonus, the test car, which is being worked hard on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, is also almost uncamouflaged.
Aside from the lighting, Porsche’s testing department has stripped the Cayenne GTS of virtually all of its camouflage tape. The design is being overhauled, especially at the front. The GTS, like the other Cayennes, gets double LED strips for the daytime running lights. Those were previously reserved for the Turbo variants. The air intakes in the front bumper also change shape and become slightly larger, giving the whole a more aggressive look. The Cayenne’s headlights are slightly smaller and have a slightly flatter shape. It is already pretty good to see, even though Porsche still sticks some tape around it.
At the rear of the Cayenne GTS, the changes are a lot more subtle. For example, the rear bumper is exactly the same as that of the current model. As at the front, the lighting at the rear becomes the distinguishing element of the facelifted Cayenne. The SUV seems to have a horizontal light bar over the entire width of the car again, but the camouflage tape hides what that will finally look like. Due to the large spoiler lip on the unfolded spoiler and the extra panels on either side of the roof spoiler, we doubted whether this was the Cayenne GTS or the much heavier Turbo GT. However, the Turbo GT has a diffuser with larger fins than this prototype. The GTS may therefore receive some heavier spoiler work, whether or not part of the SportDesign package.
The powertrain of the renewed Cayenne GTS is still unknown. The current model has at least a 4.0 V8 with 460 hp. He may get some extra power, but it could also be that the GTS replaces the Turbo, just like the facelifted Macan. The unveiling for the facelifted Cayenne is still planned for this year, so we’ll probably know more soon.
