Favorite photos in Windows

Favorite your best or most precious photos in the Windows Photos app. The app collects all favorite photos in one folder.


Do certain photos appeal to you or do they give you a special feeling? Then make it a favourite. Then in the Photos app, he also enters the special ‘Favorites’ folder. All special pictures are then in one place.

  • Click the Start button in the Taskbar.
  • Open the Photos app:
    • Windows 10: Scroll through the list of apps and click photos.
    • Windows 11: click All apps > photos.
  • The app opens with the ‘Collection’ folder. This contains all the photos that the app has encountered. Click on the photo you want to favorite.
  • The photo opens large in view. Click on the heart icon above the photo.
  • The heart is colored. The photo has been added to ‘Favorites’. Click on the arrow at the top left to go back to the overview with all photos.

Open the folder with all your favorite photos like this:

  • Open the Photos app.
  • Click on the tab Albums.
  • click on Favorites.

This folder contains all the photos that have been given a heart. Useful!

Not so happy with a photo? Remove the picture from the favorite photos folder again. The photo will remain in the collection of all photos.

  • In the Photos app, click the photo you want to remove from Favorites.
  • The photo opens large in view. Click on the colored heart above the photo.
  • The heart is no longer colored. The photo has been removed from ‘Favorites’.
  • Click on the arrow at the top left to go back to the overview.

The ‘Favorites’ folder disappears when there are no more photos in it. As soon as photos are clicked as favorites again, the folder will be visible again.
