Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri resigns

Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri resigns. Camirelli is temporarily succeeded by John Elkann, who was already chairman of the board at Ferrari.

Camilleri (65, photo 1) is leaving immediately for personal reasons. He has been CEO of Ferrari for 2.5 years, assuming that role in July 2018 after the death of FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne.

The CEO role of Camilleri will now be taken over by John Elkann (photo 2), but this will explicitly be done on an interim basis. Elkann is not exactly unknown either. As a descendant of the Agnelli family, he is at the very top of everything FCA related. Elkann, for example, will also become chairman of the new Stellantis, the result of the FCA / PSA merger. Under Elkann’s leadership, Ferrari is looking for a new CEO.

Louis Camilleri was also chairman of the board at tobacco manufacturer Philip Morris International (known for Marlboro, among others), but he is now also leaving that role.
