One facelift, many variants
The striking and popular Fiat 500X recently received another update. In addition to a hybrid powertrain, the model also received new logos and some minor changes in decoration and equipment. It’s high time for a look back: has the 500X gotten better from all those small adjustments?
The only real facelift moment for the 500X launched in 2014 was in 2018, when the car received new bumpers, new headlights and – most notably – new taillights, with a body-colored element in the middle of the red glass. However, it is too simple to only talk about that update, because we are talking about a Fiat 500. That means that there are countless variations in versions. With its different bumpers and wheels, a Sport looks very different from a Cross, which is distinguished by ‘skid plates’ and a somewhat rougher appearance.
In the photo gallery above we have tried to paint a picture of that evolution, from the first 500X to the latest and thickest ‘Yacht Club Capri’ version. With the first three photos, this evolution is reversed, because we like to use the newest copy as the opening photo. Then we go from old to new. The creamy white 500X is an early one, with halogen headlights. The red one that follows also dates from 2014, but is a bit tougher with its Cross decoration and xenon viewers. Then follows the clear blue, with which Fiat announced the facelift in 2018. The next picture is that of the red Hybrid, which wore the ‘500’ on its nose for the first time. We close the series with the P-897-XD. This demo from Fiat Netherlands is a Yacht Club Capri, in fact the Yachting presented earlier, but with the new logos and ditto hybrid powertrain. The convertible roof of those versions is also a recent addition to the range, which takes the cuddly retro content of the 500X to new heights.
