It doesn’t have to be big, as long as it’s beautiful and precious: a greedy businessman seems to have said that when he felt a business gift was coming. This is the car test for him. Sizes don’t really matter, nor do prizes. But sophistication and luxury all the more.
You could say that it is a phenomenon from Paris: compact cars, with the equipment level of a few classes higher. The ideal transport for such cities, where people are spoiled for money, but space is all the more scarce. Long ago, Renault therefore introduced the Baccaras, while Peugeot created the Roland Garros label. In the meantime, we have learned from the previous recession that it can all be a bit smaller, especially to reduce consumption. But it is now good enough for us to choose something fun. An excellent breeding ground for the time-honored principle, which is why we have today convened three compact crossovers where everything has been pulled out of the closet: the most powerful engine, of course a nice automatic transmission and the most spacious version.
SUBTLE RETRO
The Fiat 500X is the veteran of this test. The model was unveiled to the world at the Paris Motor Show in the fall of 2014 as a crossover version of the so successful 500. That was a long time ago, but a year and a half ago, the 500X was heavily facelifted, with the showing the car we have in our midst today. In any case, you can trust the Italians to be subtle with retro. You already saw that in the rebirth of the 500 and you can see that in the way they have retained the style elements on the sturdy looking 500X. Just like the small 500 and the large 500L, the X now also has those typical taillights with an island in the paint color, giving the impression of an atoll. May we officially introduce the term atoll lights on this occasion? The headlights have crescent-shaped LED daytime running lights. Although the interior of the 500X was thoroughly overhauled at the facelift, it has the most conservative cockpit here.
