New weapon caught in crossover segment
The Fiat 500e will not be the only electric car from Fiat in the Netherlands for long. The brand comes with a compact crossover that could just be called 600 and that will be a sister model to cars such as the Peugeot 2008 and Jeep Avenger. It is that new crossover that can already be seen extensively in these images!
The Italian car enthusiasts of Passione Auto Italiane post on their website and social channels photos of what could just be Fiat’s new compact crossover. We are still debating whether we are not dealing with a set of skilfully modified images, but it really seems that the Fiat ‘600’ can already be seen in these photos.
Fiat’s new compact crossover will be a sister model to cars such as the Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, DS 3 and Jeep Avenger. In addition to combustion engines, these cars are also available with fully electric powertrains. In any case, count on a 156 hp electric motor and a 54 kWh battery pack for the fully electric variant of this new Fiat. The aforementioned brothers and sisters of this Fiat ‘600’ come roughly 400 kilometers away. Incidentally, it is not inconceivable that Fiat’s new compact crossover will also be available with (mild-hybrid) petrol engines.
We aim for the Fiat 600 to eventually replace the Fiat 500X. That model has been running since 2014 and was last facelifted more than four years ago. Just like the 500X, this new crossover is overloaded with design elements from little brother 500, although Fiat draws inspiration this time from the design of the electric 500e. We see a crossover with typical headlights and recognizable taillights with a number plate housed under a ‘canopy’ in between. In any case, the car on the plates shows very strong similarities with the still packed test model that we presented to you in March.
If this is indeed Fiat’s new weapon in the compact crossover segment, do you think it is a successful appearance? Why or why not? Given that the ‘600’ has already been spotted naked on the street, we expect it won’t be long before the model officially makes its public debut.
