Similar price, higher range

The electric Fiat Panda will make its appearance next year and that seems to be a competitive offer. Fiat CEO Olivier Francois reveals some promising details.
Fiat CEO Olivier Francois already stated last year that Fiat wants to become the ‘Tesla for the people’ and a small electric newcomer will play a major role in this next year. The new Fiat Panda, or at least a car that we can see as a spiritual successor to the Panda, opens the attack on the Dacia Spring by making electric transport possible for a relatively affordable price tag. How favorable will that price tag be exactly? Francois late according Bloomberg apart from the fact that the starting price will be below €25,000. The Dacia Spring is available from just under €22,000.
Where the Centoventi Concept-inspired Fiat Panda probably gets an important edge over the Spring is its driving range. Francois hints that the Panda shares its basis with the forthcoming Citroën ë-C3. It may be on a slightly simplified version of the e-CMP platform on which the Peugeot (e)-208 and Opel Corsa (Electric) are located, with a battery pack from China that should be able to achieve 300 km of WLTP range. For comparison; the Spring comes to 230 km. Don’t feel like going EV yet? Then the new Fiat Panda is probably still an option, because it is almost certain that there will also be fuel versions on the market. The platform is also suitable for that.
We still have to be patient before we get answers to all questions, because the Fiat CEO has let go that the new Panda will be unveiled in July 2024. The Citroën ë-C3 will appear next fall, so at least a little more will become clear.
