Fiat Titano: little Fiat, more Peugeot and even more Chinese

Since the disappearance of the Fiat Fullback, which was also delivered in the Netherlands, Fiat no longer has a pick-up in its range that is comparable in size to international successes such as the Toyota Hilux. That is now changing. At least, in Brazil and Algeria. This is the Fiat Titano. But is it a Fiat?

In commercial vehicle land, brands exchange numerous models with each other. This is not limited to the world of vans. Pick-ups are also happy to share with each other. Do you remember the Mercedes-Benz X-class? That was secretly a modified Nissan Navara. The Fiat Fullback with which we introduced this story also had very little to do with Fiat, because behind the Fiat badges was simply a Mitsubishi L200. In Brazil and Algeria, Fiat adds another mid-size pickup to its line-up: the Titano.

In May, Fiat announced the arrival of the Titano, although we are only now seeing the car for the first time. That image confirms our previous suspicions that the Fiat Titano, like the Fullback, is very little Fiat. The Titano is almost identical to the Landtrek that Peugeot offers far outside Europe. Fiat hasn’t exactly put much work into customizing that Peugeot. Although, Peugeot. We go one layer deeper into the pickup pool that various manufacturers drink from. That Peugeot Landtrek, in turn, is secretly not a Peugeot at all, but a distant Peugeot-the Kaicene F70 from the Chinese Changan.

The Fiat Titano is not coming to the Netherlands. The Peugeot Landtrek has never appeared on the market here. Relevant news? Not exactly, but it offers an insight into what is happening far beyond the Dutch or European borders. Autoland is big, very big.
