NPO Apple TV app now available
With the NPO Start app it is now easy to watch programs from the Public Broadcasting on your Apple TV. The app is an extension of the NPO Start app, which has been available on the iPhone and iPad for some time.
With that you could of course start a program on your iPhone and stream it with AirPlay to your Apple TV, but a full tvOS app is a lot easier. You can also watch a program that you watch on your iPhone on the Apple TV in an instant.
The tvOS app of the NPO also does exactly what you expect it to do: provide clear access to the offer of the Public Broadcasting. You can watch series such as The Bridge, but also documentaries and popular programs such as Ik Departure. Live viewing is also included, but only for the three TV channels of the NPO. In addition, a handy TV guide has been built into the app that connects seamlessly with the rest of the app. As a result, thanks to the NPO Apple TV app you have everything together in one app, which is handy.
Free to use, but not completely
The NPO Apple TV app is free to download, but if you want to get the most out of it, you need a subscription of 2.95 euros per month. For example, free users cannot view the full range and the image quality is mediocre by default. Only subscribers get access to everything Public Broadcasting has to offer, can also watch these programs in HD and see some shows before they are broadcast on TV.
That makes NPO Start especially a godsend for people who do not want to watch live TV. Live TV is always in standard quality, even if you have a monthly subscription to NPO Start Plus. The app is available immediately for the Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K.
