Known technique
This year Volvo will introduce the EX30, a compact electric crossover that will be one step below the XC40 and C40. The Volvo EX30 will have a sister model in the form of the Zeekr X and it is that car of which we can report the first technical data.
At the beginning of this month, Zeekr – just like Volvo and Smart, one of the many brands of the Chinese Geely – conjured the X out of the top hat. The Zeekr X is a sharp-lined compact electric crossover that is very likely to come to Europe as well. The Zeekr X shares its SEA base with cars such as the Smart #1, but also with the electric Volvo EX30 to be unveiled this year. AutoWeek has found the first specifications of the Zeekr X in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology.
The Zeekr X is 4.45 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. It has a wheelbase of 2.75 meters. Although the wheelbase of the Zeekr X is the same as that of the Smart #1 to the nearest centimeter, the Zeekr X is 18 centimeters longer than its technical brother from Smart. Not entirely surprising, the powertrains of the Zeekr X also correspond to those of the Smart #1. For example, we can report that there will be a version with two together 428 hp electric motors that have a top speed of 190 km / h and that there will be a 272 hp rear-wheel drive variant. The car weight of the Zeekr X is at least 1,840 kilos and is therefore 20 kilos above that of the Smart #1.
Since the powertrains of the Zeekr X match those of the Smart #1, it is obvious that Zeekr’s electric crossover will also be available with the same battery packs as the #1. In any case, count on the arrival of a 66 kWh battery pack. For the Volvo EX30 we also use the above powertrains.
