First update in the pipeline for Royal Enfield Twins?

Since their introduction in 2018, the twins Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 Royal Enfield have done well. According to the latest rumors, the British Indians are working hard on the second generation, which will reportedly be put on the market in 2024.

First update in the pipeline for Royal Enfield Twins?

With the Super Meteor recently announced as the third model based on the 650 twin, it is not surprising to think that Royal Enfield is also working on an update of the existing two models, with some parts of that Super Meteor on the Continental GT and Interceptor. could be transferred.

According to Indian media, Enfield will make the switch to cast wheels for the Continental GT and Interceptor, although it is not entirely clear whether that is an option or whether the wire wheels will make way for the field. The latter would surprise us, given that spoked wheels are almost essential on retro classics.

On the other hand, the choice of cast wheels is not surprising when you consider that cast wheels have more status than spoke wheels, especially in growth markets (such as India, for example). In addition, Enfield has already equipped the Super Meteor 650 with cast wheels.

If the new twins are indeed equipped with stuff that has now been introduced on the Super Meteor, it is certainly not inconceivable that the upside down front fork will also be used, although that would be more logical for the sportier Continental GT with cafe racer looks than with the more straightforward Interceptor.

Other adjustments that are being discussed concern the lighting and the counters. That is also not surprising, LED lighting is slowly but surely being made mandatory worldwide, because it is more energy efficient and better for the environment.

The press in India also claims that there will be a top half fairing version of the Continental GT, so it could also be that all those innovations that are suggested are reserved for only the sportier cafe racer.

At the end of this year we will know, until then we will stick to the rumor for a while. Unless the engines are already spotted during test work, as happened recently with the new Scram 450.
