Five nice convertibles for less than 3,000 euros

At the moment we can unfortunately enjoy the beautiful weather less extensively than usual. However, going into the sunny wide world by car is still perfectly possible. Then of course you want a convertible and if possible also for not too much money. What can you get for less than € 3,000?

Mazda MX-5

Mazda MX-5

Perhaps the best convertible for less than € 3,000 is the Mazda MX-5. The second generation of the MX-5 is occasionally available for that money and then with a little luck you also have quite an okay one. A slightly larger budget can not hurt. In terms of technology, it is generally a mustache, but note that they are quite sensitive to rust and that parts can be expensive. If you can live with that and keep some money for it, you will drive a very nice steering convertible with rear-wheel drive.

Fiat Barchetta

Nowadays Mazda and Fiat play under one hat with regard to their two-seat roadsters (the MX-5 and 124 Spider). In the 90s, of course, that was not yet the case and Fiat tried to answer the popularity of the MX-5 with the Barchetta. In contrast to the MX-5, the Fiat only has to do with front-wheel drive, but is nevertheless a nice driving open two-seater that can now be purchased for relative habbekrats. The design has stood the test of time, but the sheet metal and chassis may be less. This is what the Barchetta has in common with the MX-5: it is watch out for rust.

Peugeot 306 Convertible

No, we do not opt for the 206 CC in terms of Peugeot entry. The range is really overflowing with the 206s with a steel folding roof, but for the big picture you might want to go for the 306 Cabriolet. The tasteful design of Pininfarina, in combination with the generally excellent reliability and ditto handling, make the 306 Cabriolet an interesting option. It may take a little longer to find your perfect copy than with the 206, but they are certainly there for less than € 3,000.

Saab 9-3 Convertible

Saab managed to make a name for itself as a ‘convertible brand’. The open variants of the 900 and later the 9-3 managed to find many buyers in our country. So second-hand supply enough. Obviously you drive a lot more car than the aforementioned convertibles. In terms of luxury and available options, it is often good in a 9-3 Convertible and for a relatively small price you just still drive neatly. As with the MX-5, slightly above € 3,000 can be found significantly better copies, but they are also there for less.

Opel Tigra TwinTop

Yes, the Opel Tigra TwinTop. Because we also want to highlight a nice hardtop. Of all the cars in this list, this is the most modern choice. The Tigra still looks nice and fresh for its age, especially with a nice color and good wheels underneath. Of course it does not drive very special, but hey. The special steel roof folds neatly away in the body and the Tigra also looks very good with the roof up. After all, this is a car that is designed purely as a convertible, in contrast to, for example, the aforementioned alternative, the Peugeot 206 CC.

The rest

There is so much more to choose in the convertible area if you want to spend less than € 3,000. From the Opel Astra Cabriolet to the Ford Streetka, from the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet to the special Citroën C3 Pluriel. There are also many Renaults Mégane for sale, but there is often a good reason that they no longer cost a flute. Curious about what can be found? Take a look at the occassion offer.
