MG is working on the road and is introducing two new models in the Netherlands this year. We also get to see the harbinger on a new roadster this month. Still, we still think melancholy back to the old MG, so let’s see what is still for sale.
MG TF – 2005 – € 6,250
Anyone who thinks of MG naturally immediately thinks of nice two-seater. With the MG A and MG B, but of course also the Midget, MG brought wonderful open driving pleasure. More about that later, because we will finish the list from young to old. Thus this MG TF from 2005 comes to the top. An MG from the last year before the old non-Chinese MG passed away. Fortunately, the range of TFs and Fs is still quite wide, but we could not leave the TF that we see here unlit due to the implementation. A wonderful British color scheme, with the light interior and the wood accents in the dashboard and door panels. The mileage, just over 180,000, is not exaggerated either. Behind the seats is the 136 hp version of the 1.8 and with that you have enough at home for a nice game of sporty steering. With manual transmission too, of course.
MG ZT – 2003 – € 4,950
While MG has traditionally made a name for itself with roadsters, it has made other forays over the years as well. Quite a few cars developed as Rover also had an MG logo printed on their nose. One of these was the Rover 75, which went through life at MG as a ZT. Those who prefer a 75 with a somewhat sportier driving behavior and appearance could turn to MG. Thanks to its alloy wheels, dark instead of chrome accents and of course Alcantara upholstery in the interior, this ZT looks a lot more flashy than its Rover counterpart, but at the same time it is still clearly British. In the nose lies the 190 hp 2.5-liter V6 from Rover, which in this case directs its forces to the front wheels via a manual five-speed gearbox and has only 117,000 km of experience. Do you have some more money on the shelf: the ZT was even available with a V8 from Ford and rear-wheel drive. Then you have something special in your hands.
MG Midget – 1979 – € 6,845
Enough ‘modern’ stuff, time for the real eye-catchers. Although it is not the most beautiful that MG has ever produced, a Midget is a great purchase if you want to drive fun, classic and open for not too much money. The really old Midgets have become very rare, but copies from the 70s, such as this one, can still be found regularly for a reasonable price. This one has the plastic bumpers that came on the Midget in the mid-1970s due to American regulations and this brown one also started its life on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. That probably contributed to the fact that it still looks pretty hard, so that’s an advantage. If you prefer a Midget with a somewhat more classic and more European appearance, then this slightly older and more expensive 1974 from 1974 might be interesting.
MG B – 1974 – € 16,900
We are making a huge leap up in the price, but of course The MG B should not be missed. Say MG and you will see this car in front of you. Of course he was also there as a GT and eventually got expansion and succession in the form of the C and RV8, but this MG B Roadster is according to many the MG. This specimen looks the way you like it, although the color is of course a matter of taste. It looks neat and complete, with the classic chrome bumpers, the rack on the boot lid and, not unimportantly, a fabric hood in good condition. You may find them cheaper, but because of their popularity, you can quickly come across a copy from someone who wanted to sit ringside for a dime. Spending a little more can therefore not hurt.
MG A – 1959 – € 29,950
Finally, we lift this 1959 MG A onto the stage for a moment. By far the most expensive and the oldest MG from this list, but according to many probably also the most beautiful. The MG A has been partially restored, but things like the dashboard and chrome are original and brought to the best possible condition. The supplier also says that the original 1.6 has been replaced by a 1.8 from an MG B. For the purists you might not like it, but you can count on it that it is enjoyable in this MG A and that you will attract a lot of attention. If you really want to go for the crème de la crème, we would like to refer you to this MG A from 1957. That seems like a gem to us.
