Flitsmeister does not warn about ‘app cameras’

Starting this week, you can more easily be fined if you are behind the wheel with a phone. The police use ‘smart cameras’ for that. Even with an app like Flitsmeister, there is no escape.

Anyone who is still behind the wheel with a phone has an extra high chance of being fined. Applying drivers will be actively tracked down from Monday by cameras above the road that recognize this. The photos end up with the police and after a personal check, a fine of € 240 is imposed by the CJIB. Anyone who thought he could be warned about such cameras by an app like Flitsmeister is wrong. The director of Flitsmeister indicates that it will not cooperate.

In conversation with The Telegraph CEO Jorn de Vries says that Flitsmeister cannot support this: “We do not want to ‘reward’ appending motorists for that misbehavior. We think that is ethically irresponsible. There will be people who find that hypocritical because we do that with speed cameras, but we think that is an essential difference. ” According to De Vries, driving a ‘few kilometers too fast’ is not the same as deliberately not focusing on the road with your eyes. Anyone who had hoped to be able to avoid such fines by being warned in time about such cameras is out of luck. Just don’t, that’s the best solution.
