The sleep tracker app AutoSleep has had a major update, and now works better than ever with your Apple Watch. For these three reasons, the app is worth a try.
You can do this with AutoSleep
AutoSleep is a sleep tracker intended for Apple Watch owners. By using the smart watch as a tracker, your sleep but also your sleep quality is measured. By combining your sleep time, restlessness, heart rate and time that you are awake, you gain extensive insight into your night’s sleep.
The tracker works best when you wear your watch in bed. If you don’t want that, you can simply hang your watch on the charger just before going to sleep. As soon as you unlock your iPhone in the morning, the app will know that you are awake. However, only your sleep time is tracked in this way.
AutoSleep recently released version 6.0 and this has significantly expanded the sleep tracker. In addition to a new, simpler design, the existing functions have been improved, but you will also find new options. We highlight the best improvements for you.
1. Fitness assessment by heart rhythm
Sleep is extremely important, and also partly determines your physical and mental condition. For people who want to improve their sleep or, for example, exercise a lot, the new fitness assessment is a great feature.
To do this, the app measures your heart rate variability (HRV) during the night, or the variation in duration between heartbeats. It also measures what your heart rate is when you wake up. During short or restless nights you will see how great the effect is on your general condition.

2. Clear sleep report & easy operation
In the renewed app you can easily read all information about your night’s rest from activity rings. These are quite similar to the rings you know from Apple’s own Activity app. Your sleep time, restlessness, and other factors all have their own ring diagram.
In addition, a new menu shows you whether you are building credit by sleeping more than is necessary for you, or if you have shortages due to less sleep sessions. That way you know whether you have to turn around again on Sunday morning.
3. Siri Dashboard and Shortcuts Support
Siri plays an important role in the new app. The speech assistant has its own dashboard where you can always request the latest information. For example, ask Siri what your latest bedtime is.

The speech assistant takes into account that you do not build up a lack of sleep or get enough sleep to solve this. AutoSleep also supports the Shortcuts app, so you can set Siri Shortcuts. As soon as you go to bed, you can then start the tracker and turn off your smart lights at the same time.
Widgets complete the overview
Checking your sleep overview is possible in several ways. You can add different widgets, so you only have to swipe to the right for information. A widget shows you for the last night and the last seven days how well your ‘battery’ has been charged again. For example, another widget shows you how long it took that night to fall asleep.
