Ford Bronco 4600 offers a glimpse into the future

Ford is once again maneuvering the Bronco into the spotlight. With the Bronco 4600, the brand unveils a second racing variant of the striking off-roader. Unlike the Bronco 4400, this off-road executioner does share many components with the production version of the model.

The Bronco 4600 is based on the regular Bronco with the Sasquatch package. With that package it already has off-road tires, a front and rear differential lock and higher fenders. However, that’s not enough to compete in the fierce King of the Hammers off-road race in California. The Bronco 4600 first of all has a 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 with two turbos, linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Ford does not mention the power, but in the standard Bronco the block is already good for 310 hp. So count on this specially modified Ford to have more horses under the hood.

Of course it didn’t stop there. To absorb the necessary blows, the Bronco 4600 has a modified suspension with Fox dampers. The brakes come from Wilwood and the steering gear and drive shafts have been reinforced. Furthermore, the Bronco 4600 can be recognized by its steel bumpers, the LED bar above the windshield and the spare wheel on the back. An FIA-approved roll cage and special Recaro racing seats have been fitted in the interior to ensure the safety of the drivers. To top it off, the color scheme is inspired by that of the Bronco that won the Baja 1000 rally in 1969.

Raptor?

In its current specification, the Bronco 4600 may be on the extreme side for street use, but the off-road racer gives a good indication of what a ‘Bronco Raptor’ might look like. Ford already lifted a tip of the veil of this. Ford is still keeping final details and specifications of the possible Raptor under its cap. Have you become enthusiastic? Then you will have to bring it to our country yourself, because as far as is known the Bronco is not coming to our continent. This also applies to the F-150 Raptor unveiled on Wednesday.
