Ford Bronco as an extreme off-roader

With the Bronco, Ford has a robust off-roader in the range with which the brand, among other things, the Jeep Wrangler in reply. However, no Wrangler can handle the fierce Bronco trio that Ford is presenting today.

Every year in Johnson Valley, California, the off-road race King of Hammers takes place, an event in which rugged off-roaders not only chase through the sand at high speed, but also have to overcome extremely impassable and rock-strewn trails at crawl speed. Ford is competing in the Ultra4 4400 class with three Bronco-based off-roaders this year.

At least, the three racers are not actually based on the Bronco. The spectacular-looking trio is built around a tubular frame and only shares a few external details with the regular Bronco. The cars have enormous suspension travel and look almost cartoonish with their wheels placed far outside the carriage and their colorful carriages. Ford does not share technical specifications.

On February 6, they can be seen in action during the 145-kilometer King of Hammers race in which a total of 450 teams in various classes compete. Ford says it will present a special version of the actual Bronco in the run-up to the event
