Ford had already anticipated a fierce Raptor version of the Bronco, but after that it was quiet around the Bronco Raptor for a long time. Until now, because this prototype is unmistakably the extra rugged Bronco.
Eight months ago, Ford presented us with a photo of an enthusiastic Ford Bronco flying through the air. The first sign of life of a Raptor version. At the time, a somewhat higher-standing version of the Bronco also slid past the lens of our spy photographer. Now that is happening again and this time with less camouflage material on the carriage. It is also even better to see how extreme the Bronco Raptor becomes.
You don’t have to look twice to see that the Bronco Raptor has a considerably greater ground clearance than the regular Bronco. The track has also increased considerably and the Bronco also has wider wheel arches than usual. An adapted chassis with extra robust suspension and dampers as well as thick off-road tires ensure that you should be able to tear over rough terrain with the Bronco Raptor at considerable speed. Finally, a little of the grille can be seen through a layer of white foil. Expect the Ford brand name written in large letters in full on the spot where there is still a black and white speckled louvre. Just like Ford did with the Raptor versions of the F-150 and the Ranger. With the regular Bronco, the model name is now on that spot.
We have to disappoint fans of eight cylinders, because it is not very likely that the Bronco Raptor will get a V8 in its nose. Even the F-150 Raptor is already doing it for the second generation in a row with a V6. There is a good chance that the 3.5-liter V6 will also go to the Bronco and with an expected power of around 500 hp, the Bronco Raptor has nothing to complain about. We do not expect the unveiling of the Bronco Raptor until next year. Logically it will not come to the Netherlands.
