Ford plans to cut up to 8,000 jobs in the coming period. Bloomberg reports this based on anonymous sources within the manufacturer. With the job cuts, Ford reportedly hopes to be able to pay for a large investment in electric mobility.
In particular, Ford Blue, the division that develops combustion engines and cars with such powertrains, would be hit. By cutting thousands of jobs, Ford wants to increase its profitability to fund further investments in electric cars.
According to Bloomberg, the plans are not yet final and there are not thousands of people on the street in one fell swoop. It would involve a gradual reduction of staff, especially in the United States. Ford will invest €44 billion in electrification in the coming years. The goal: from 2026, Ford wants to build no less than 2 million electric cars annually. Ford Blue stands next to Ford Pro – the commercial vehicle branch – and Ford Model E. The latter department is the EV branch of the group.
