Following the Puma, Ford gives the Fiesta access to Eco-boost engines with mild hybrid technology. That is not the only modification to the list of engines available for the hatchback.
Ford is thoroughly adapting the Fiesta’s delivery range. The hatchback will, just like its younger crossover brother, the Puma, have the 125 hp 1.0 Ecoboost equipped with mild hybrid technology. Please note, the mild hybrid variant is only available in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox. The three-cylinder is linked to a starter generator. Energy normally lost during braking and coasting is stored in a small lithium-ion battery. That energy is then used during acceleration, for example, which reduces consumption. The system determines whether it relieves the petrol engine by “replacing” up to 50 Nm of torque with electrical assistance or whether it delivers up to 20 Nm of additional torque on top of the normal torque. The 155 hp version of the 1.0 EcoBoost with mild hybrid technology that we know from the Puma, is not yet coming to the Fiesta.
