Ford Fiesta soon renewed

Ford is about to give the Fiesta a facelift. Since the disappearance of the Ka + from the Dutch delivery range, the Fiesta is the smallest model and it does not seem to be treated gently in its facelift.

The current generation of Fiesta was introduced to the world at the end of 2016, making the little brother of the Focus within the Ford family not exactly the youngest model. Ford is preparing a facelift with which the Fiesta should be able to compete again with its often younger competitors. After all, cars such as the current generation Hyundai i20, Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Yaris were released more recently. In the sales statistics that does not seem to matter, Ford had the most popular passenger car in our country in February with the Fiesta.

The renewed Ford Fiesta in these photos is still very fanatically hanging in the camouflage stickers. It can already be said that the Ford Fiesta will be fitted with a completely new set of headlights on the cutting table. The new headlights are a lot flatter than the large current ones. Ford is adjusting the grille and bumper work and also giving the hatchback a redesigned bonnet. The rear lights are still largely covered with sticker work, although it is obvious that the Fiesta will get new rear light units with, like the ones on the younger Focus, a spur at the top that dips into the tailgate. The current model only has a small spur in the center of the rear light.

We don’t expect Ford to bring a plug-in hybrid powertrain or an electric powertrain to Fiesta. The Ford Fiesta is currently available with 48v mild hybrid powertrains and will remain so for the time being. At least until 2026, the year in which Ford says it wants to equip all passenger cars it supplies in Europe with an electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain. From 2030, Ford will only supply fully electric passenger cars in Europe. In any case, the current generation Fiesta will no longer experience that. Do not be surprised if Ford will soon designate the renewed Fiesta as a new generation. With rather thorough facelifts of the Fiesta, but also with the Escort and Mondeo, Ford was happy to pull out a new ‘Mk’ designation. We expect the renewed Ford Fiesta on the market this year.
