This includes a completely new dashboard
Ford is giving the Puma a fairly thorough refresh, with the interior in particular being overhauled. The innovation is slightly ahead of the arrival of a completely new electric version. It’s called Ford Puma Gen-E, we’ve already heard.
The Ford Fiesta is no more, but Ford is still active in the B-segment with the Fiesta-based Puma. It has been with us for more than four years and that is why Ford thinks it is high time for a facelift. There is also an electric Puma on the way and it will soon go into action with a fresh appearance. What does that fresh appearance mean? Well, on the outside we notice, among other things, changed lighting and new bumper work. In addition to a new layout, the headlights now also have optional Matrix LED lighting. The changes are a lot more noticeable in the interior. In fact, they are unmissable if you still have the outgoing Puma on your mind.
The Ford Puma has received a completely new dashboard. A much sharper-lined copy, with the most striking part being the angular unit that houses the infotainment screen and the central ventilation grilles. That infotainment screen is considerably larger than the one from the pre-facelift Puma; 12 inches instead of 8 inches. It also now runs Ford Sync 4 instead of Sync 3. This supports, among other things, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa can also work on it. The climate control is now also housed in the screen, but there is still a physical button for the volume. Furthermore, you can now find a 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster for the also new steering wheel, before the facelift it was limited to a 12.3-inch one.
Ford is also immediately reviewing the range of available safety systems for the Puma. For example, the adaptive cruise control has been expanded with Lane Centering, a 360-degree camera is now available, as well as Reverse Brake Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Braking to intervene if you threaten to collide when reversing. More technical changes? Well, not a big one for now. Once again, a mild-hybrid 1.0 EcoBoost is responsible for the power and delivers 125 to 155 hp in the regular models. The top version is again the Ford Puma ST Powershift, which has 170 hp. There is currently no trace of the Puma ST X with a 200 hp 1.5 EcoBoost. However, Ford is already pointing to a completely new path, namely that of the fully electric Puma. It will be fully called Ford Puma Gen-E and will appear later. Now that the fuel-powered Puma has been presented in a new form, the unveiling will probably not take much longer.
