Ford Ranger Platinum

Ford introduces a new top-of-the-line luxury Ranger. Which listens to the appropriate name Platinum. There is little to choose from when it comes to engines, because the Ranger Platinum always has a V6. In the Netherlands there is absolutely nothing to choose from on Platinum level.

The new Ford Ranger was available as XL, XLT, Limited, Wildtrak and Raptor and now this new Platinum is added. Where the XL and XLT are mainly intended for companies, the Limited, Wildtrak and Raptor are the versions aimed at private individuals. The Raptor is the absolute roughest variant, this Platinum in the order books as the most luxurious top version…

… but not in the Netherlands. The Dutch importer tells AutoWeek that the Platinum version will not come to our country and that the delivery range here will continue to consist of the XL, XLT, Limited, Wildtrak and Raptor. What are we missing? A Ford Ranger that, like the Raptor, has a 3.0 V6. In the Ranger, the six-cylinder is a 300 hp petrol engine, but in the Platinum the 3.0 V6 is a 240 hp and 600 Nm strong turbo diesel. That machine is linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission that distributes the power to all four wheels. The maximum towable weight is a not too bad 3,500 kilos, the payload is more than 1,000 kilos.

From and the Ranger Platinum distinguishes itself with a unique and chrome-colored grille from its less lavish brethren. The 20-inch alloy wheels with black parts are also a landmark. Standard equipment includes a so-called soft close flap of the cargo box, a flap that closes itself. Privacy glass, matrix LED headlights and roof rails are also part of the Platinum party. The same goes for things like a 12-inch instrument panel, a 12-inch infotainment screen, an extensive audio system from B&O and an induction charger. You don’t know what you’re missing, but now you do.
