Former CEO of BMW Netherlands is stepping down as CEO of Mini

More than two years ago, Stefanie Wurst exchanged her position as CEO of BMW Netherlands for that of CEO of the Mini brand. It has now been announced that she is resigning from that position.

German Stefanie Wurst headed BMW Netherlands for many years, but in February 2022 she rose within the BMW Group to the position of CEO of the Mini brand. Under her leadership, Mini experienced a major electrification drive and the brand new electric Mini Cooper, Aceman and Countryman were born. However, it is now almost over for Wurst, who will hand over her position to Stefan Richmann on August 1. He has been active within the BMW Group for around 27 years and is currently Head of Corporate Strategy.

No reason is given for the switch from Wurst to Richmann and there is no discussion of a new position for Wurst. It therefore appears that she is going to leave the company. On her LinkedIn account, Wurst calls the transfer of her position ‘bittersweet’ and speaks of ‘a new chapter’. In the near future, she will work together with Richmann towards the change on August 1.
