Mike Manley, who was CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles until early this year, is stepping down from his current position at Stellantis. The 57-year-old Briton becomes CEO of AutoNation.
Mike Manley is one of the biggest names in the automotive industry today, having served as the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles from 2018 until the formation of Stellantis early this year. In July 2018, he succeeded the striking CEO Sergio Marchionne, who died not long after. Big shoes to fill. Under Manley’s leadership, FCA teamed up with Groupe PSA, leading to a merger. Within Stellantis, Manley was subsequently given the responsibility for Stellantis’s American branch, but he is now almost giving up.
Manley will become CEO of AutoNation on November 1, a large listed American automotive group with more than 360 dealerships under his care. Thus, more than 20 years of working for FCA comes to an end, but Manley declares that it is time for a new chapter for him. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares thanks him for his commitment: “It was an honor to get to know Mike as a competitor and then as a colleague and partner in the creation of Stellantis. But above all, he was always a friend. From our first discussions, we shared the same vision, conviction and commitment.”
Manley is certainly not leaving Stellantis completely yet, he will still remain associated with Stellantis as a board member, although in practice he will undoubtedly be working mainly with his work at AutoNation.
