The Haas Formula 1 team will continue next year with different drivers than its current line-up, which consists of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. It is not yet known who the successors will be.
Both Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen have announced that they will no longer drive for the Haas Formula 1 team next Formula 1 season. This marks the end of five years with the American team for Grosjean. For Magnussen it ends after three seasons.
Chances are that for Grosjean it will be the end of practice in Formula 1. The French-Swiss driver almost had to leave the ship last year, but Haas still held him for a year. There does not seem to be any interest from other teams. Magnussen is generally considered a more valued driver, but it is not yet clear whether he is in the picture with other teams.
There don’t seem to be many options for next year for those two, as there are quite a few hijackers on the coast. Sergio Pérez and Nico Hülkenberg are considered dead candidates for a seat and Mick Schumacher (Michael’s son), Yuki Tsunoda and Nikita Mazepin are Formula 2 drivers ready for a switch to Formula 1. Mazepin is a good contender for a place at Haas, as he can bring a lot of money to the team thanks to his wealthy father. Tsunoda is a candidate for a place at Alpha Tauri and Schumacher is the biggest contender for a place with the Alfa Romeo team.
Successors
As mentioned, there is a good chance that Haas will go for Mazepin as one of the successors to Grosjean and Magnussen. In addition, Pérez has been mentioned several times as a contender and Hülkenberg would also be an excellent choice. However, Hulkenberg has also been linked to Red Bull Racing as a replacement for Max Verstappen’s underperforming teammate Alexander Albon. In short, a lot can still shift in the run-up to the 2021 season.
