Fortnite update for iOS is rolling out

Epic introduces a completely new mode for Fortnite: ‘Getaway’. This mode is available for a limited time only and is part of the High Stakes event currently running. Think of Getaway as a bank robbery. Four safes have been dropped randomly around the island. In the safe is a precious jewel, which you must get hold of first with a team of four.

One player tries to crack the safe, while the rest defends it for as long as possible. If you have the jewel, it is important to find a van and run away as quickly as possible. Several other challenges have also been added related to the event, as well as some ‘Wild Card’ skins that you unlock by playing.

Also new is the Grappler, a weapon that allows you to move around the island much faster. You can aim the Grappler at an object during a game, so that you ‘fly’ there quickly. Furthermore, the controls of Fortnite on iOS have been slightly improved.

Where Android users have to download Fortnite in a roundabout way, you can simply find the iOS version in the App Store. The installation requires 159MB of free storage space and iOS 11 or higher. In addition, Fortnite only works on the iPhone X, iPhone 8 (Plus), iPhone 7 (Plus), iPhone 6S (Plus), iPhone SE and most recent iPads. Older devices such as the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 5S are unfortunately left out.
