Free driving license for unemployed people in Wallonia

Unemployed people in Wallonia – and there are quite a few – are given the opportunity to get a driving license completely free of charge.

For example, you hear nothing about the French-speaking part of Belgium, and suddenly twice in one day. Earlier today we reported on plans to turn the southern region into one major environmental zone, but there is also good news in the automotive field. At least: for those who belong to the group of 7.1 percent (source: statbel.fgov.be) unemployed. Four thousand of them are given the opportunity to get a driving license completely free of charge.

HLN.be reports that EUR 8 million will be released for the project. The lucky ones who qualify for the free driving license will receive 30 hours of driving lessons and the costs of the theoretical and practical exam reimbursed. After the news of this morning, the unemployed have to invest fairly quickly in a virtually new and / or electric car, but that aside.

The move is part of an extensive package of unemployment-reducing measures in Wallonia. If it turns out to be a success, continuation is possible.
