Who is authorized for this?
Answer
Dyslexia can only be diagnosed after a child learns to read, so at the earliest from a few months of reading instruction. This makes sense because dyslexia is defined as a problem in reading words. It is therefore nonsensical to speak of dyslexia in advance, eg at pre-school age; it is possible to detect possible risk factors at that age (eg poor phonological processing, difficulties in language acquisition, etc.). In principle, dyslexia can be diagnosed by someone who has been professionally trained to adequately interpret the required test results, a psychologist or remedial educationalist. In the new learning support framework, the diagnosis will be made by someone from the CLB.
