Oil price is falling

Fuel prices continue to rise quite rapidly. While oil prices are falling. It is suspected that the strikes in France, aimed at some oil and fuel companies, are playing a role.
The price of petrol has risen sharply in recent days. According to UnitedConsumers, the Average National MSRP on Friday stands at €2.154 per liter, more than 6 cents higher than a week ago. This is the second week in a row that the price of petrol has risen. Diesel has even become 10 cents per liter more expensive in a week. The recommended retail price of diesel is now €2,222 per litre, almost 7 cents more than petrol. Compared to the end of September, diesel has already become 14.3 cents more expensive. The strong increases are striking, because oil prices have actually fallen. Paul van Selms of UnitedConsumers suspects that fuels have become more expensive as refinery workers in France went on strike last week. As a result, oil companies had to source their fuel elsewhere and that can drive up the price. The fact that the diesel price is rising faster than that of petrol is probably because diesel is often made from Russian oil. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the supply of oil from Russia to Europe has been under pressure. From December, EU countries even want to stop importing oil from Russia at all, except through pipelines.
