FV Frangivento, a relatively young Italian company from Turin, has come up with a new model: the Sorpasso. Unlike the previous models that the brand showed, the Sorpasso takes a more conventional approach.
In any case, the name Sorpasso has been aptly chosen, because freely translated it means ‘overtaking’. FV Frangivento markets the supercar in two flavors: Stradale and GTXX, where the customer can choose a number of their own choosing in place of ‘XX’. The Stradale can be seen in the images and at first glance looks less outlandish than the Asfané Diecidieci, the earlier model of the Italians. Although that is relative, because the rear in particular looks quite extreme thanks to an enormous diffuser, four exhausts and several upwardly running lines. At the front, the Sorpasso evokes associations with another extreme creation, the Lykan Hypersport, thanks to its sharply contoured headlights and large air intakes.
The appearance of the GTXX is inspired by GT3 racers, according to FV Frangivento, but no images of that version have yet been released. The same also applies to the interior of the Sorpasso, which according to the brand consists of a mixture of leather and Alcantara and is distinguished by ‘a minimalist design and obsessive attention to detail’. We will have to take the Italians at their word.
FV Frangivento Sorpasso
In order to actually overtake your fellow road users, there is a V10 behind the front seats of the Sorpasso. That power source in the Stradale delivers a power of 610 hp on all four wheels, in the GTXX a supercharger boosts that number to 850 hp. FV Frangivento gives a weight of only 1,300 kilos, which in the case of the GTXX means that the sprint to 100 km / h is accelerated in 2.9 seconds, reaches 200 km / h on the speedometer in 9.3 seconds and the cake is beware at 345 km / h. FV Frangivento does not say where it got the engine, but given the number of 610 hp it is quite possible that this is the V10 from the Lamborghini Huracán. The manufacturer does say that it uses 15 suppliers to build the supercar. In contrast to the aforementioned Asfané Diecidieci, the Sorpasso has to do without hybrid technology.
Customers can fully customize their Sorpasso through multiple individualization programs. According to FV Frangivento, the first copies have already been reserved and the first cars will be delivered in Monaco and the United Arab Emirates at the end of July. A price is not mentioned. Since the Asfané Diecidieci has never been spotted ‘in the wild’ as far as is known, the question arises whether the ambitions of FV Frangivento will become reality in this case.
