Last week, Samsung kicked off their 2022 lineup with the launch of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra and the new Galaxy Tab S8 series. The latter has an Ultra tablet for the first time. Everyone expected the phones to get the most attention, but they were sorely wrong.
Pre-orders paused
The Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Ultra are so popular that Samsung has had to pause PR orders in the United States. They have opted to do this instead of continuing to take customers’ money without fully knowing when the company would be able to fulfill their purchase. If you go to Samsung’s website, you’ll find that you can still order the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, but it’s almost inevitable that it won’t be in stock either.
XDA Developers contacted Samsung about this incident and received the following response:
We are excited about consumer response to our new Galaxy Tab S8 range. Due to overwhelming demand in the past 48 hours, we are pausing pre-orders on Samsung.com for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S8. We work quickly to meet consumer excitement and demand. Stay tuned for more updates.
No surprise
Compared to the Tab S7 Plus, this year’s tablets bring a series of innovations. These innovations make the Tab S8 series a certain upgrade over previous models. One of those innovations is the S Pen. It has a hugely reduced latency, so writing with this stylus feels like pen on paper. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and the screens are also significant improvements. Especially the Tab S8 Ultra with the first 14-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display stands out.
At launch, the Tab S8 was also promoted for its autofocus. This ensures that during video calling the person(s) stay in focus without you having to do anything yourself. In times like now, video calling is almost the new norm, so they will have scored well with this too. If you still want to buy a Tab S8, you can still do so (for now) at the stores in this article.
