Seven models in two years

Volvo’s parent company Geely has presented a new label: Galaxy. The Galaxy models are always electrified and are placed relatively high in the market. In two years, the Galaxy delivery range should already include seven models.
The already huge Geely is getting even bigger. You may know Geely mainly as the parent company of Volvo, but it encompasses much more. The brands Lynk & Co, Lotus, Zeekr, Smart, Polestar, Proton, half of Smart and even the manufacturer of London taxis (LEVC) are part of Geely’s portfolio. The Geely Auto Group also consists of car brand Geely and it is that brand that introduces a new model line: Galaxy. Brand Geely already has model lines such as Emgrand, Bo, Bin and Vision and so there will be another one. With its Galaxy models, Geely has set its sights relatively high on the car market. Perhaps surprisingly nowadays: with Galaxy, Geely is not only focusing on fully electric cars.

With this EV, Geely may be looking ahead to a Taycan competitor based on the Polestar 5.
Geely describes its Galaxy models as ‘premium and always electrified’. These include electric cars, but also plug-in hybrids with a large range. The Galaxy line must consist of seven models within two years. Geely is already showing its first production model and a preview of an electric competitor of cars such as the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan: the Galaxy Light. The first production model is called Galaxy L7 and is a plug-in hybrid SUV with a total range of 1,370 kilometers. The SUV must be able to reach a speed of 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km / h. Geely has not yet released the exact composition of the NordThor powertrain.
Of the seven models Geely has in stock, four are plug-in and three are fully electric. Geely not only confirms the arrival of the Galaxy L7 shown, but also the Galaxy L6. That will not be an SUV, but a sedan. The L7 and L6 will hit the Chinese market in the second and third quarters respectively. The first electric Galaxy will be called E8 and will come in the last quarter of this year. That car may share its technical basis with the Polestar 5. Interesting fact: Geely fills its Galaxy models with lightning-fast chips, so that the infotainment system is ready for use in half a second at the push of a button.
Will Geely’s Galaxy line of cars come to Europe? That could just be possible, given the enthusiasm with which Geely brings and wants to bring brands such as Lynk & Co and Zeekr to Europe.
