GM ‘back’ in the fall

About a year ago it came out that General Motors is likely to become more active in Europe again. Now GM’s EV offensive seems closer than ever: the company’s first electric cars should enter the European market this year.
Formally, General Motors has never completely left Europe, but in a sense we can speak of a return if GM were to offer targeted new models here again. That this is going to happen and that it concerns electric cars has been a persistent rumor for about a year. Now a little more about it is coming out via Autonews. GM Europe top woman Jaclyn McQuaid understands that General Motors will already start selling electric cars in our continent next fall.
Reportedly, the Cadillac Lyriq is still the prime candidate to head this way, as is the more modest Chevrolet Equinox, although even the GMC Hummer EV is said to be on the nomination list. There will probably soon be clarity about which models we can expect exactly, when the first cars can hit the road in the fall. Incidentally, ‘we’ in this case is very broad; GM will probably initially focus on only one or a few European countries. Norway is logically a good candidate because of its high EV acceptance, but the Netherlands would also have a good chance in that respect (and because of the infrastructure).
