Last week there was a Geneva International Motor Show for the first time in years and, according to the organizers, it left us wanting more. Next year, Palexpo in Geneva will therefore open its doors again to car manufacturers and enthusiastic visitors.
The major car fairs were not having an easy time before corona, but nowadays it is proving to be not easy at all to fill the exhibition floor with interesting four-wheeled novelties. Nowadays, the IAA is more of a showcase for mobility concepts than a car show pur sang and last week we personally discovered in Geneva how the stock exchange there is no longer what it once was. There was only one hall with all new cars and another hall with classics and that was about it. Renault and Dacia were the only major European car manufacturers, there were also some Chinese players and smaller names from our part of the world.
Still, according to the organizers, it left me wanting more. They look back on a successful edition, which attracted a total of 168,000 visitors. Next year it will therefore simply be time for the 92nd edition. It will take place from February 17 to 23, just a little earlier in the year than this year. An ‘even richer and more compelling’ edition is promised. Let’s hope that car manufacturers will actually be more eager to come next year.
