With Siri Shortcuts, the possibilities of Apple’s voice assistant are greatly expanded. But what are the options? We have listed a few Siri Shortcuts examples for you as inspiration.
6 Siri Shortcuts examples
With iOS 12, Apple introduces Siri Shortcuts. While Apple’s voice assistant is lagging behind the competition, this is one way to expand its capabilities yourself.
The idea behind Siri Shortcuts is that you come up with a series of tasks via the Shortcuts app, which Siri performs with a single voice command. You do need some creativity for this, because how are you actually going to use this function? That is why we give six examples that you can apply directly yourself.
Conveniently, you only need the apps from Apple for these examples. More and more third-party apps now also support Siri Shortcuts, so the possibilities are endless. So see this article as inspiration and starting point for your own Siri Shortcuts. First download the Assignments app via the button below.
Sleep well
If you want to make sure you won’t be disturbed at night, use this quest line. In the Siri Shortcut we made, say “trust” to Siri to turn on Airplane mode and Do Not Disturb mode. For extra security, this series also turns the volume down completely.
2. Good morning
Let Siri increase the brightness of your screen, play music and tell you what appointments are on your calendar today. As a bonus you will also be told what the weather is like. You just have to say ‘good morning’. Of course you can also expand this routine, so that, for example, your lights switch on, you switch on your coffee maker via a smart plug and an app tells the news.
3. Need help
The above examples are still relatively simple. It can of course also be more complex. With the sequence below you can send a message to someone you trust with the words “I need help”, stating that you need help, what your current location is and how much power your iPhone battery has left. The volume of your device is also turned off if you are in danger.
4. I’m going to run
Are you going to exercise? Then it is also easy to have a series of actions performed consecutively. In this example, all you have to do is say “I’m going to run” to start a running workout, play music, and set your smartphone to Do Not Disturb.
5. Open iPhone
You can also open something as simple as opening a website via Siri. With this Siri Shortcut, all you have to do is say “Open iPhone” to bring Safari to our website.
Tweet latest photo or music you are listening to
Tell Siri that the last photo you took or the music you are listening to should be tweeted. These shortcuts show that there are also many possibilities in combination with social media. These two shortcuts were invented by Apple itself.
