Giphy has added a handy keyboard extension to iOS 12 that includes everything you need for gifs on your iPhone.
Giphy update makes sending gifs easier
Giphy has been the best place to look up gifs online for years, but the iOS app update goes a step further today. The update only works on devices with iOS 12 or higher (from the iPhone 5S) and is all about the iOS keyboard.
Giphy keyboard allows you to search for gifs without opening the Giphy app directly from another app. That makes it very easy to search and send a GIF in apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
You activate the Giphy keyboard as follows:
- Download or update the Giphy app;
- Open the Settings app;
- Choose ‘General’ and tap ‘Keyboard’;
- Choose the Giphy keyboard;
- Give them full access to use all functions.
After completing the above steps, you can open the keyboard by tapping the globe in the bottom left corner of your screen. Here you can immediately start searching for a gif, which you then copy and paste into the app you are currently using.
If you have an iPhone X or newer, you can also make a GIF sticker yourself with the camera button on the keyboard. Giphy uses the iPhone’s TrueDepth camera for this. You can then stick this sticker on images.
