The new interface of Google’s messaging service has a function for sending secure messages. Here is how to use it.
Gmail is getting a new look and has a new interface, as well as new functions. It is now possible to send emails by adding an additional level of protection thanks to confidential mode. To benefit from this mode, you must first activate the new Gmail interface.
- Then click on the button New message and create your mail as usual. Then click on the small icon with the padlock and the clock at the bottom of the window.

- The confidential mode window appears. Define the mail expiration period (one week by default) and possibly require a secret code by SMS (the recipient will then have to enter a code received on his mobile).

- You can still change these settings by clicking on To modify before sending the message. Then click on the Send button and, if you have activated the sending of code by SMS, enter the recipient’s mobile phone number.

- If the recipient has a Gmail account, he will receive the message directly, unless you have specified the sending of a code by SMS. In this case, Google will ask him to also enter the code received by SMS in order to display the message. If the recipient’s address is not linked to Gmail, they will receive an email with a link redirecting them to a temporary Gmail page. He must then enter a code received by email or received by SMS, if the option is chosen, to confirm his identity.

- And if you want to remove access to mail, go to sent items and click on mail. Click on the mention Revoke access.

The recipient will then no longer have access to the message.
