Gold Wing gets new colors for 2022

If you are in the market for a new Gold Wing: Honda has performed the 2022 colors for the Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour DCT/Airbag and the standard Gold Wing. And those aren’t all that bad if you ask us.

Gold Wing gets new colors for 2022

Since its introduction as a naked 1000cc touring machine in 1975 (when 1000cc was still seen as super thick), The Gold Wing has been the flagship of luxury and long-distance technical competence. However the competition has tried – for tour riders there was only one and that was the Gold Wing.

What started as a naked 1000cc four-cylinder boxer engine grew in 26 years into a super-deluxe sofa on wheels with 1800cc six-cylinder boxer engine. After that it was quiet for a long time and the Gold Wing seemed to die a quiet death, until the 6th generation was presented in 2018, which was sportier, lighter and more compact than ever.

In addition to saving more than 40 kilos in weight, the new Gold Wing had a Wishbone front suspension, a bit like the Duolever from BMW, extensive electronics with ride-by-wire throttle control, traction control, driving modes, LED lighting, Hill Start Assist, Apple CarPlay and -of course- DCT with ‘walking mode’ forwards and backwards.

After some minor updates in 2020 and 2021, Honda has stuck with new colors for 2022. The GL1800 Gold Wing ‘Tour’ manual transmission will be available in Gunmetal Black Metallic, finished with a new ‘blackout’ engine.

For 2022, the DCT/Airbag version of the Gold Wing ‘Tour’ will feature new vibrant Glint Wave Blue Metallic and Pearl Glare White exterior colors to match the Gunmetal Black Metallic color scheme. The DCT-only GL1800 Gold Wing itself will now be available in a smart new Matt Jeans Blue Metallic colour.
