Recycled tyre

Tire manufacturer Goodyear shows a very special tire. It is not only made of rubber, but also of soybean oil and rice chaff.
Goodyear is working hard to develop a tire that it describes as 100 percent sustainable. It should be ready around 2030. The tire manufacturer is now presenting a tire that, according to the company, consists of 90 percent sustainable materials.
Goodyear’s special demonstration tire is constructed from a variety of materials, including four grades of carbon black – also known as carbon black – and soybean oil. In addition, rice husk-derived silica is used in the tires and polyester recovered from bottles. Goodyear also uses resins from renewable resources and recycled steel in its specialty radial tire.
According to Goodyear, its special new tire – which, by the way, will not go on sale – has passed all tests with flying colors. Goodyear does intend to market a tire this year that consists of 70 percent ‘sustainable materials’. The company says it will need to forge new partnerships with other companies before it is ready to launch a tire made from 90 percent sustainable materials.
