The new version of Maps allows you to configure your daily commute to work for the best route. Here is how to use it.
Google has just unveiled the new version of its mapping application. Google Maps inherits in particular a new icon and sees its interface changed in depth. Navigation within the application is simpler and is structured around five tabs.
One of them, Routes, allows you to find the most efficient route for your daily Home-Work route taking into account live traffic conditions and suggesting alternative routes. Here’s how to configure it to get the most out of it.
1. Go to Settings
Open Google Maps, go to the Discover tab, press your avatar then, in the menu that appears, enter the Application settings. Under the heading Trips, enter the menu Home-work trip.

2. Fill in the addresses
In turn, enter the Home and Work menus to enter the two addresses and validate each of them by pressing OK.

3. Change the trip preferences
Google Maps then offers you to define your preferences. Enter the Means of transport menu to define the means of transport you use to travel.
Depending on the means of transport used, different menus may then be displayed. If you use public transport, for example, enter the Route to work and Route to home menus. You can add your departure and arrival stops, add a stopover to your trip, etc.

You must then enter the usual times for your journey. Enter the Travel times menu and select the days of the week and times you usually travel and confirm your preferences.

If you wish, you can also choose to Receive notifications relating to the journey between home and work, to receive an alert when an incident is declared on your journey, for example.
Finally, Google Maps will also offer you the option of Obtaining more precise information on your commute to work. While this option can be useful for obtaining more accurate travel times, it requires that you allow the app to constantly access your location and therefore enable Location History in your Google Account.
