Google now reports monthly Google Play system updates

Google is now informing Android users about the improvements and bug fixes of Google Play system updates. On a new support page we get an overview of the improvements of each update.

Google Play System Updates

You are probably familiar with security updates and version updates for Android. Google informs users monthly about all vulnerabilities in Android and also describes the severity of each flaw. You will always find the overview in the so-called Android security bulletin and we also give it our attention every month on Androidworld.

What we think less about is that Google also regularly updates the Google Play services on our Android, and that’s because updates happen in the background. This includes solutions for errors with: the location services, emergency alerts, payment systems, synchronizing contacts and other data. In short: all coresystems that keep Android devices running. Such Play system updates are automatically rolled out to devices running: Android, Wear OS, Android Auto, Chrome OS, Android TV, and Google TV.

Monthly Report

on a new support page Google will now announce which errors have been corrected in Play system updates. It also appears that that information will be shared on a monthly basis, as we already see an overview of updates in the months in December and January, which discovered 9To5Google.

You can also check on your phone when you last got a Google Play system update. The option can be found in the settings under ‘Security’ or under ‘About phone’ and then ‘Android version’. You can also manually check whether a new Play system update is available.
