Jam away! With these words, Google announces that the Pixel Buds Pro earbuds now officially get an adjustable equalizer. In an update, Google ensures that the Pixel Buds Pro have access to 5-band EQ. How does it work and what is 5-band EQ?
5-band EQ and adjustable equalizers?
In short, an equalizer (EQ) is a kind of tone control with which you can adjust the tone, or as singer Anouk will say ‘sound color’, of audio. You do this by attenuating or amplifying the frequency range, the area between the lowest and highest frequency of an audio source. A frequency is the total number of vibrations per second. Simply put, you use an equalizer to raise or lower the volume of certain frequency ranges. You can adjust audio to your own liking and this means you have sound the way you want to hear it. If you can do this through five frequency bands, you call it 5-band EQ. Google offers support for this now through an update to the Google Pixel Buds Pro.

Google is currently rolling out a new update for the Pixel Buds Pro that should make this possible. In the update, version 3.14, the Pixel Buds Pro will therefore have 5-band EQ. This gives you, among other things, five different sliders for five different frequency bands. These will be treble, mid, bass, low bass and upper treble. In addition, Google will create six pre-installed audio settings, which will be standard, balanced, clear, voice boost, light bass, and heavy bass. You can set this up in the Pixel Buds Pro app as soon as you receive the update. This function gives you a little more control over how you prefer to listen to certain audio.
