Techwoven is probably also made of recycled material, in combination with a special coating. This extra layer ensures that the case of the iPhone 17 is much stronger and less sensitive to scratches or stains.
Biggest blunder in years
It is striking that Apple comes with these new telephone cases, because Finewoven is perhaps Apple’s biggest blunder in recent years. In 2023, Apple said goodbye to leather phone cases, instead the FineWoven cases came. These had to be an environmentally friendly alternative to the leather covers, but Finewoven turned out to be anything but a success. The material was extremely sensitive to scratches and damage, so the covers often had a short lifespan.
Apple received a lot of criticism of the Finewoven covers, in response, Apple took the environmentally friendly telephone cases from the range. The same thing happened with all other accessories made from FineWoven, they are also no longer available. With the iPhone 17, Apple makes a new attempt, because there we see covers that are made of techwoven for the first time.
iPhone 17 rumors confirmed
The leaked photos show that the techwoven covers are available in the colors black, brown, blue, green and purple. This may reveal all the colors of the iPhone 17 Pro (MAX), because the covers often match the housing of the new iPhone. In addition, the telephone cases confirm that the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max get a larger camera island and a camera control.
