The wait for the stable version of Android 12 will probably take another three weeks. According to new rumors, Google will release the new version of Android for consumers on October 4.
Launch Android 12
An internal Google document, which Mishaal Rahman of XDA Developers has seen, indicates that Google will release the source code for Android 12 for the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) on October 4. This often coincides with the day when Google launches the stable variant of a new Android version. The document also shows that Android 11 was announced on September 8, 2020 and Android 10 on September 3, 2019. This year, Google will release the new Android version a few weeks later.
What can we expect from Android 12?
The most notable feature in Android 12 is the new theme system that comes with the Material You design language. That is a modified version of Material Design. In Android 12 you can activate dynamic themes so that apps and parts of Android take over the color scheme of the wallpaper you have set. Many apps are now being updated so that they support Material You in Android 12.
In addition, we can count on the support of scrolling screenshots (finally!) and we get more insight into which apps use the microphone or camera. Android 12 also has new clock and weather widgets, and moves smart home control from the power menu to the quick settings.
