GP Hungary anyway without an audience

In any case, the Grand Prix of Hungary, which is scheduled for August 2, will be completed without an audience. That was announced by the organizer of the race on Friday.

“It has become clear that, in spite of all our efforts, the 35th Grand Prix of Hungary must take place behind closed doors and must therefore be kept without an audience,” said the race track manager Hungaroring on the site. As part of the Hungarian government’s corona measures, no events with more than 500 attendees may be held in Hungary until 15 August.

“Health is the most important thing, not only for the participants but also for the fans. We therefore see the necessity of this decision and hope that tens of millions of fans can enjoy the race on television.” Visitors who have already bought a ticket for the GP this year can get their money back or have their admission ticket converted to a ticket for next year for free.

The GP of Hungary has been on the Formula 1 calendar every year since 1986. Last year Max Verstappen achieved his first pole position ever in Formula 1 at the Hungaroring, finishing second behind Lewis Hamilton in the race.
