The Dutch Grand Prix has been postponed due to the corona virus. The Formula 1 race at the Zandvoort circuit was scheduled for May 3.
The other Grands Prix in May cannot continue either, as Formula 1 decided on Thursday. Formula 1 would also visit Spain and Monaco after Zandvoort. “Given the current situation with COVID-19, Formula 1, FIA and the three circuits have had to make this decision,” said Formula 1 in a press release. “We must be able to guarantee the health of all traveling staff, drivers and spectators, that is our primary concern.”
Earlier this month, the opening race in Australia was canceled just before the first free practice, after the Chinese Grand Prix had already been moved. The races in Bahrain and Vietnam were also postponed. The Grand Prix of the Netherlands was therefore the first race on the Formula 1 calendar, but due to the measures due to the corona virus, there was also a big question mark behind it. The races in Spain and Monaco were scheduled for May 10 and 24. The next race is now scheduled for June 7. Then in Baku the GP of Azerbaijan should be ridden.
Formula 1 last raced in the Netherlands in 1985. The Zandvoort circuit has been extensively renovated to enable the return of the royal class of motorsport.
