But there are more interesting results in the annual figures of Gaspedal and Autotrack. For example, we know that after Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Ford are the most popular among Dutch used car seekers. The top 5 models include the Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Polo, BMW 3-series, Audi A3 and Ford Focus. In the Netherlands we still love a station wagon. That was the most sought-after body style last year, followed by the hatchback, SUV, sedan and the MPV.
A towbar appears to be the most popular option on a second-hand car, followed by a panoramic roof. Remarkably, we only find air conditioning in third place. Nowadays, used car buyers probably assume that air conditioning is present anyway. In fourth place on the list of most sought-after options for second-hand cars we find leather upholstery.
Not too far from home
In three provinces, used cars are most sought after within a radius of 10 kilometers from home. This concerns Flevoland, North Holland and South Holland. Residents of the province of Groningen are willing to travel the most kilometers to find a new used car: 100 km. In the other provinces, the most common search is for a used car located up to 50 kilometers from home. Groningen and Friesland are the only provinces where used car buyers more often look for a manual transmission than an automatic. Flevoland, Friesland, North Holland and North Brabant are the only provinces where the search is not for up to €15,000, but for a maximum starting price of up to €20,000.
